All you need to know about Eat Out To Help Out Scheme which launches this week from Monday  3rd August.

How does it work?

The scheme is designed to give a boost to food venues after lockdown.
Its a Government scheme to get us out and giving business to our restaurants, as the government is paying half our bill. You get 50% off your food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total discount of £10 PER PERSON provided that you eat or drink in. (Alcohol Drinks are excluded from this offer)

So this means if one person’s order is £20, they pay £10. If it’s more than £20, they still only get the £10 maximum discount – so if you ordered £24 of food and non-alcoholic drinks, you pay £14. Each person has up to £10 discount.

When Does it Start:

It starts this week Monday 3rd August and the scheme runs 3 days a week
every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 August - 31st August 2020.

Granny Annies already operates two pubs across the northwest in Limavady and on Waterloo Street (Pictured Above) but what will this mean for the two new pubs in the city?

We will have to wait to find out in the coming months but we expect the pubs to transition into Granny Annie's type bars just the same as Waterloo Street bar.

Primary Schools Invited for “DuPont Float Your Boat.” Competition

Primary schools across the northwest are being invited to take part in an exciting free education outreach programme that will allow them to explore their maritime heritage through an innovative and interactive programme entitled: “DuPont Float Your Boat.”

The education programme is being run by the Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with DuPont ahead of the forthcoming Foyle Maritime Festival that is taking place from 09-17 July when the Clipper Round the World Race yachts will make a welcome return to the city for a fun filled festival of fun and celebration.

The education programme will be delivered by Footsteps Interpretation and is being held alongside a competition encouraging students to design their own model boat and be in with a chance of their design being exhibited during the Maritime Festival in July.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane Council, Cllr Elisha McCallion says the education programme is a fantastic way of getting primary school children from across the city and district involved in the festival and encouraging them to explore and appreciate their local environment and their close proximity to maritime heritage.
“What I really like about this education programme is that it is all about fun and getting the children involved in a way that encourages them to take a real interest in the topics covered. It is very interactive and creative and encourages them to use their imagination and come up with creative ideas and concepts. I am delighted that we have DuPont on board as our main sponsor for the festival and look forward to working with them on the festival,” she said.

Paul Kirkpatrick, Organisation Manager, DuPont, said:  “We’re so pleased to be working with the Derry City and Strabane District Council to deliver a fun, engaging and free education programme to primary school children from across Derry~Londonderry.  As a company, we regularly reach out to schools, offering prizes for STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) related tasks as well as creating our own competitions, so we are constantly engaging with young minds and hopefully inspiring them to take more of an interest in engineering.

The students are also being encouraged to participate in a competition to build their own model boat using recyclable materials. The top three designs will receive an individual prize and will be on display alongside six highly commended designs during the Foyle Maritime Festival in July.

Calling all primary and secondary school pupils across Ireland. Fancy yourself as Ireland’s next best young sports analyst?
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next sporting pundit?

Then get yourself entered into this great competition open to all schools across Northern Ireland.

The hunt is on to find Ireland’s next great sporting analyst as superstar, Peter Canavan and
NIAVAC, Northern Ireland’s leading audio visual company, have joined forces to find and reward the top sporting analysts of the next generation.

With the competition deadline fast approaching, the ‘NIAVAC Best Young Sports Analyst
Award’ schools competition is encouraging pupils to take a leaf out of Peter’s book, as a Sky
Sports pundit, and analyse one of their school’s sporting activities or matches.
Picture
In association with sporting superstar and Sky Sports pundit, Peter Canavan, we’re on the hunt to find Ireland’s best young sports analyst to win a state-of-the-art 70” Clevertouch interactive touchscreen worth £4,000 for your school classroom.

The winning school will also receive a visit from Peter himself to demonstrate how interactive technology can optimise sporting performance on the field of play.

Peter will also visit the winning school to host an exclusive analytics session using the new Clevertouch interactive technology, courtesy of NIAVAC.
Picture
An enthusiastic Peter Canavan remarked, “I am really excited about the Best Young Sports
Analyst Award competition as it celebrates the increasing importance of match analysis,
technology and strategy in ensuring sporting success. We want pupils to show off their
analytical and commentary skills in a short video, and most importantly we want them to
have fun with the competition.”

“Technology is constantly enhancing how we can teach students, and I am delighted to be
part of a competition that will reward one lucky school with high-tech equipment installed in their classroom.
Clevertouch interactive technology will be of particular importance to the
PE/Sport departments as the interactive element allows coaches and pupils to bring
performance analysis to a whole new level and thus gain an edge on their opponents.

James Conlon, Managing Director of NIAVAC, commented “We are delighted to launch a
school’s competition and to have Peter Canavan on board as our brand ambassador.
Clevertouch technology is really revolutionising classroom learning, replacing interactive
whiteboards in classrooms with sophisticated touchscreen technology that does not require
costly replacement lamps and ongoing maintenance. Over 100 schools throughout Ireland
are already benefitting and we look forward to giving schools across the country the
opportunity to win one for themselves.”

Entries to the competition must be submitted by 5pm on 31st March 2016

Finalists will be selected to go through to the final round with the winner selected by a public vote on Friday 29th April 2016.
