Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Elisha McCallion has pledged her support for the Earhart Festival, which takes place next week from 10-16 August, by encouraging people from across the city and to get involved with the popular community arts celebration.
Describing the Earhart Festival as one of the city’s premier cultural carnival celebrations, Mayor McCallion said she was hugely impressed with the festival line-up and how it caters for all ages and has a strong family friendly focus.
She said: “A lot of work has gone into organising this festival and full credit must go to everyone involved in making it happen. I know that it has been a mammoth task for the organisers to put the festival together without adequate financial support. Thanks to community spirit and goodwill of the people of the city and beyond, they have successfully put together a fantastic festival line-up that has everything from arts and crafts, quality live music acts, theatre and animation as well as storytelling, games and children’s activities. Well done to everyone involved and I wish the Earhart Festival, now in its 16th year, every success,” she said.
